Picterus secured NOk 36 million in financing.
Picterus, a Trondheim, Norway-based company developing a mobile solution for assessing jaundice in newborns, secured funding totalling NOk 36 million ($4 million).
The funding is a combination of grants and equity - 16 million is grants provided by EIC and 20 million is equity.
Picterus originates from NTNU and was founded in 2015 by Gunnar Vartdal and Lise Lyngsnes Randeberg. The company has developed a mobile application that makes it easy for monitoring jaundice in newborns.
Jaundice causes more than 100,000 deaths among infants in the world annually, and can cause permanent brain damage to many newborns. Infants with jaundice need easy follow-up outside the hospital. Picterus' solution is affordable, easy to use, and can easily be used even in areas with scarce resources.
