Pixieray secured €3.6 million seed funding from Maki.vc and First Fellow.
Pixieray, a Helsinki, Finland-based startup building an adaptive eyeglass lens solution, announced the completion of a seed funding round totalling €3.6 million ($4.4 million).
The money was raised from a range of investors from Finland, the US and the UK, including Maki.vc, First Fellow Partners, Amazon Alexa Fund, firstminute capital as well as from angels David Helgason (founder of the gaming technology company Unity), Ilkka Paananen (CEO of Supercell), John Lindfors (partner in Digital Sky Technologies (DST), a Hong Kong-based private equity firm) and Bragiel Brothers (Paul and Dan)
Pixieray, founded in 2021 by Niko Eiden, Rebecca Xu, Klaus Melakari and Ville Miettinen, is working for the development of an optical solution capable to adjust the spectacle lens automatically to the focus point of its user’s gaze. The company is yet to decide whether it produces its own glasses or white label the tech and expects to go to market by 2023.
