Podme gets bought by Schibsted.

PodMe, a Stockholm, Sweden-based operator of a podcast platform, announced that it entered into an agreement for being acquired by Schibsted.

The financial details were not disclosed. Post deal, Schibsted will own 91% of the shares - it previously controlled 48.5% via three capital increase deals made by Schibsted Growth in 2019 and 2020 (1, 2).

The company's founders Johan Strömberg and Niklas Julin together retain 9% and remain in their roles.

PodMe, founded in 2017 and led by CEO Johan Strömberg, built a podcast platform with content available on a subscription basis. The platform has about 50k paying subscribers and sales of SEK 25.5 million ($3M) in 2020.
