Safety Wing raises $500k in a soft investment round supported by local backers

Safety Wing, an Oslo, Norway-founded startup providing an insurance service, secured around $500k in a soft investment round.

The money comes from friends and family, The Nordic Web Ventures and from the state-owned Innovation Norway.

SafetyWing was founded in 2017 by Sondre Rasch(CEO), Hans Kjellby and Sarah Sandnes and provides insurance coverage for travellers. The service is provided in partnership with the worldwide insurance provider Tokio Marine, and is available to travelers beyond U.S. shores for $37 with an an additional $30 add-on fee for those travelling to the U.S.

SafetyWing is also backed by Y Combinator, as it was accepted in their fall 2017 class.
