Sepior was acquired by SBI Holdings.
Sepior, a Copenhagen, Denmark-based company providing Key Management as a Service (KMaaS), announced that it was acquired by SBI, a Japanese financial services company group.
The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Sepior was founded as a spinout from the University of Aarhus in Denmark, in 2014 by Nicolaj H. Nielsen and Jakob Pagter and is led by CEO Ahmet Tuncay.
The company is a market leading provider of threshold cryptography for highly secure online transactions, as it developed a practical virtual Key Management Service (KMS) using secure multi-party computation (MPC), a technique for splitting cryptographic keys between different providers that results in distributed trust.
Sepior’s threshold signature approach using multiparty computation (MPC) provides the highest level of encryption key protection available for cryptocurrency wallets, addressing the most salient criteria for achieving online wallet and transaction security.
