Seriously was acquired by the Israeli social gaming company Playtika.
Seriously, a Helsinki, Finland-based mobile games maker, announced that it entered into an agreement for being acquired by the Israeli-based social casino gaming company Playtika.
After the transaction, which has the financial details undisclosed, Seriously will continue to operate independently. According to local media sources, the deal valued Seriously at around $275 million.
Seriously, founded in 2013 by Petri Järvilehto and CEO Andrew Stalbow, developed Best Fiends, a cartoon-style mobile game with multiple business extenisons in other products and media properties.
The game was launched in 2014, has been downloaded by about 100 million users and has almost 2 million daily active users. In 2018, Seriously made about EUR 60M in sales and is expected to reach roughly EUR 120M in 2019.
Seriously, which has 75 people in Helsinki and Los Angeles, was financed with venture money, having raised almost $30M from investors including Northzone, Heartcore, Daher Capital, Korea Investment Partners and Upfront Ventures.
Playtika is based in Herzliya, Israel and is owned by Giant Interactive Group, a Chinese consortium which acquired it for $4.4 billion in 2016.
