SidekickHealth raised $55 million in a Series B funding round led by UK-based venture capital firm Novator Partners.

SidekickHealth, an Icelandic company headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden, raised series B equity funding in a round closed at $55 million.

The money was raised from investors led by Novator and joined by Wellington Partners, Asabys Partners and Frumtak Ventures. Novator Ventures’ general partner and founder Birgir Mar Ragnarsson is joining Sidekick’s board, in conjunction with the equity deal.

Proceeds will be used to accelerate the multi-chronic capabilities of the therapeutics platform and make it more commercially available in the United States.

Sidekick, founded as Goodlifeme in 2014 by CEO Tryggvi Thorgeirsson and Sæmundur Oddsson, specializes in the creation of gamified digital therapeutic solutions and programs, transforming chronic and lifestyle disease management across multiple therapeutic areas, ranging from diabetes to ulcerative colitis and smoking cessation. The Sidekick platform combines an evidence-based clinical approach with behavioral economics and gamification to help global customers expand therapy reach. It is CE- marked as a Class I Medical Device and is scalable to over 40 distinct chronic diseases. The company operates its platform in partnership with some of the biggest names in healthcare, including leading US-based health company Anthem Inc. to offer a digital-first care programs, as well as global pharmaceutical majors such as Pfizer and Bayer, to develop integrated combination therapeutics consisting of a molecular drug and a digital therapeutic.

Sidekick previously raised about $24 million, with a $20 million series A closed in 2020.
