Smart Protection closes €10 million Series B co-ledby Knight Capital along with the Swanlaab Venture Factory
Smart Protection, a Madrid, Spain-based SAAS developer of anti-counterfeit software, announced completing a series B capital funding round of €10 million ($11.9M).
The money was raised from investors co-led by the Dutch fund Knight Capital along with Swanlaab Venture Factory and including contributions from CDTI, the Spanish National Innovation Agency, Nauta Capital, JME Ventures, Bankinter, Big Sur Ventures and Telefónica.
Smart Protection, founded in 2015 by Javier Capilla, Manuel Moregal and CEO Javier Perea, built a platform tracking and removing illegal digital copies of users’ assets, be that a pirated movie on a backwoods streaming website or a counterfeit product on a marketplace.
The company is part of Google’s Trusted Copyright Removal Program, and has certifications or partnerships with other social networks, which allows the team to delist and eliminate links that lead to illegal contents.
Smart Protection previously raised about $8 million, last round of €5.2M Series A in an investment round led by Nauta Capital in 2019.
