smol raised £8 million in Series A funding from Balderton and JamJar Investments.

smol, a London, UK-based startup building a subscription business selling detergents online, announced that it completed a £8 million ($10.1M) capital investment, series A round.

The money was provided by British VCs led by Balderton Capital and including contributions from JamJar Investments.

The proceeds will be used for expansion of the company's business further into new markets as well as increasing the product scope with new categories.

smol, founded in 2018 by ex-Unilever execs Paula Quazi and Nick Green, built a laundry brand with laundry and dishwasher capsule packs, and a detergent subscription service. The company’s new fabric conditioner bottles are made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic, are 100% recyclable. smol claims to serve 250,000 users and offers a returns scheme for refill and reuse.
