Speckle in a $5.5 million funding round led by Frontline Ventures and Matrix Partners.
Speckle, a London, UK-based software startup developing an open source digital infrastructure tool for anything designed in 3D, announced closing a seed round at $5.5 million.
The money was raised from investors led by Frontline Ventures and Matrix Partners joined by Foundamental, Cocoa VC and angel investors David Cramer and Chris Jennings (Co-founders of Sentry), Guillaume Princen (works for Stripe), Ralph Gootee (co founder at Plangrid), Chase Gilbert (founder at Built Technologies), Patric Mandia and Edward Koai (both work for Snap).
Speckle, founded in 2019 by a Romanian (Dimitrie Stefanescu) and an Italian (Matteo Cominetti), developed an online platform designed for automation in design, engineering, and construction. The platform allows companies, designers, engineers, hackers to extract and exchange information in 3D formats, in real time between the most popular AEC applications using tailored connectors.
Speckle was initially pre-seed with $1 million by Foundamental in 2020.
