Standout Capital, a Swedish VC firm based in Stockholm, raised an investment fund of SEK 1bn ($110M). The backers of the fund include the European Investment Fund, Skandia and Tredje AP-fonden.

Standout Capital was founded in 2014 by Fredrik Arnander, Klas Hillström and Erik Wästlund, when they started raising the investment fund.

The company is looking to provide growth funding, looking for established business from the Nordics, typically with revenues of EUR 5-10 million and proven profitability.

The momentum seems fitting as Scandinavia is a fertile place for early stage investments, as in 2016 most of the investments in Scandinavia were made in $1-5M rounds.

In total there were more than 600 bets under $5M from a bit more than 800 in total in 2016.

That means the growth money investors have plenty of qualified leads to choose from in the near future, from already funded startups showing good signs of product market fit, traction and internationalization premises.
