Transfluent raised a $2 million pre-Series A investment round.
Transfluent, a Helsinki, Finland company providing translation services, announced the raising of another $2 million, which it is calling a “pre-Series A” investment round. The backers include a mix of angels along with Tekes and Vision+ Fund. The company anticipates raising an “actual Series A” later in 2014.
Transfluent, led by CEO Jani Penttinen, offers human-powered translation services for websites, apps, blogs and even social media accounts. In late 2012, it had around 15,000 freelance translators in its global network, covering 60 languages. Now it has over 50,000 covering more than 80 languages, and 2013 saw a 900 percent year-on-year increase in sales.
