OptiWay, a Kristianstad, Sweden-based company selling software services in geographic and GIS area, announced getting into agreement with Norway-based Visma for selling the company.

The financial details of the transaction remain undisclosed.

OptiWay will operate as an independent company within the Visma Group under the Custom Solutions division. The acquisition is made on the assumption that the need for new solutions for geographic IT and GIS will increase as digitalisation in sectors such as city planning, engineering, energy and banking will drive the demand even further.

OptiWay, founded in 2005 by CEO Kristofer Turland, provides consultancy services in geographic IT and develops geodata products on the local and international markets. The company has 20 employees and headquarters in Kristianstad as well as offices in Malmö and Ronneby.

OptiWay is a profitable company, with SEK 16.4M ($2M) in revenues in 2016.
