Viva Wine Group acquired the Germany-based wine marketplace Vicampo.
Viva Wine Group, a Stockholm, Sweden-based holding active in the wine business, announced the acquisition of the German online wine retailer Vicampo.
Financial details were not disclosed. The deal was made with existing shareholders - Burda (German media company) and the family office controlling the Jägermeister business.
The deal rationale is for Viva Wine Group to consolidate its position in the German market. In 2018, the company purchased Wine in Black, followed by the acquisition of Vinexus including a larger logistics subsidiary in 2020. Vicampo, which has 200 employees, is around3X the size of the two previous purchases combined, and the combined entity expects sales of €80-100 million by the end of 2021.
Viva Wine Group, founded in 2010 by CEO Emil Sällnas and Björn Wittmark, is the largest importer of wine and spirits in Scandinavia. The company is said to have a 25% market share in Sweden via Giertz Vinimport, Wine Team Global, Chris Wine & Spirits, Iconic Wines, Winemarket and Tryffelsvinet, and is active in Finland (Cisa Group), Norway (the Norwegian Beverage Group), UK (joint-venture Larex) and USA (Vinimundiwines). The company also does e-commerce and home delivery via Wine-in-black with a focus on Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, and France.
