We Hunt raises SEK 3M for expanding its hunting platform in Norway, eyes Europe next.
We Hunt, a Katrineholm, Sweden startup providing a platform for hunters, raised SEK 3M ($340k). Backers include existing local angel investors Gerard De Geer and Lars Lindgren and the money will be used for funding expanding operations in Norway.
We Hunt, led by CEO Theodor Storm, has developed a freemium platform for hunters.
The company was originally founded as a project within the Swedish Hunters Association, with Lars Milde as CEO.
However, since the Swedish Hunters Association was a not-for-profit business, and thus difficult to monetise, Wehunt was bought off by external funders, including Sörmlandsleden Fund and private investors Gerard De Geer, David Ljungström and Lars Lindgren, who invested SEK 3M in 2016, for fueling the user growth. For that, in March 2016, We Hunt bought competitor Genzo.
In 2016, the company registered SEK 2.5M ($280k) in revenues and had 70,000 registered users, of which about 50% are active on a regular basis. For context, there are around 300,000 registered hunters in Sweden.
