Yoto to raise $17 million in series A led by Acton Capital
Yoto, a London, UK-based startup developing a device-based platform for children, announced raising a $17 million capital funding round.
The money was raised from investors led by Acton Capital, joined by JamJar Investments, Global Founders Capital, Emerge Education, MPL Ventures.
Yoto, founded in 2016 by Ben Drury and Filip Denker, developed an audio player called the Yoto Player designed to provide entertainment for children, as it introduces them to a world of stories, music, educational activities, sound effects, podcasts and radio.
The Yoto Player is at its second generation, designed to give children control over their listening with access to entertaining audio, and controlled using physical cards that are inserted into the Player which then play the audio content. It features original content alongside audio licensed and co-created with partners including LEGO, Disney/Pixar, PRH, Macmillan, Sony, Roald Dahl Story Company, Harper Collins, Hachette, Bonnier and Scholastic. Yoto also offers music, audio-based activities, podcasts, radio and sound effects.
