What you need to know about the European investment market in Q3 2021.

As we wrapped up the investment deals for October, we put together all the data for the third quarter of the year and had a look at a holistic picture triying to figure out where this is going.

We have tracked 1255 deals totalling $24.9 billion for Q3 of 2021. The trend of money flood in the market and inflated value of the deals remained at high levels similar to what we've experienced throughout the year, though compared to Q2, in Q3 there was $5 billion less spent for minority equity investment in Euro startups.

The number of deals is also slightly lower than in Q2 but it's within margin errors and may as well be a lagging update on our side (it takes time to process and update deals made across 30 geographies).

However, each of the past two quarters of 2021 - Q2 and Q3 - had $ deployed at comparable levels for the enitre 2020. Add to that the average number of deals made by quarter this year is roughly 20% higher than the average of the 2020 quarter. Overall, Q3202 as is has more than 120 deals & $15 billion spent more than in Q3 2020.

Other notable observations - London remains the capital commending top money and number of deals across Europe, and the Nordics is the top region getting most of the deals and the $$ in Europe. About a third of the deals were in the $1-5 million range and more than 60% of the money was deployed in $100M+ deals - later stage and very early stage are the most profitable in Euro VC, the rest are in crossfire.
