Actimo to get acquired by Kahoot

Kahoot!, an Oslo, Norway-based provider of learning services via a digital platform, announced the acquisition of Actimo, a Copenhagen, Denmark-based company operating employee engagement platform

The transaction is a combination of stock and cash, including an earn out, and was made for 100% of the shares in Actimo ApS for a total consideration reflecting an enterprise value of USD 26-33 million on a cash and debt-free basis.

The acquisition of Actimo is a part of the strategy to strengthen the Kahoot! at work offering with employee tools to further enable all organizations to build their corporate culture. Actimo enhances Kahoot!'s corporate learning and engagement tools by combining the features of employee engagement from the Actimo platform with the learning approach, scale and reach of Kahoot!.

Actimo, founded in 2010 by CEO Eske Gunge and Frederik Kruse Hannibal, developed a platform that empowers organizations to more efficiently build corporate culture with better communication, training and interaction with the workforce.

Actimo was backed by Danish angel investors Jan Lehrmann and the private invstment company Promentum Equity Partners.

Kahoot was founded in 2011 as Mobitroll out of NTNU Technology Transfer by Johan Brand, Jamie Brooker, Åsmund Furuseth and Morten Versvik and It was renamed as Kahoot in August 2013. The company, now led by CEO Eilert Hanoa,  developed a game platform that is used yearly for education by more than one billion participating players in over 200 countries attended over 200 million Kahoot! sessions.
