Aerones raised $9 million in a seed round led by Future Positive Capital.

Aerones, a Riga, Latvia-based startup providing robotic inspections for the energy business, announced completing an equity financing round closed at $9 million.

The money was raised from investors led by Future Positive Capital, alongside existing investor Change Ventures, and Jaan Tallinn's Metaplanet, Vinted co-founder Mantas Mikuckas, Printify CEO James Berdigans, Capitalia, Pace Ventures, and EcoSummit.

Aerones, founded in 2015 by CEO Dainis Kruze and Janis Putrams, developed  a robotic system used for wind turbine blade maintenance, as it can perform tasks such as lightning conductivity testing, high-resolution inspection, drainage hole cleaning, cleaning, painting and leading-edge repair. The company says it works with nine of the world’s ten largest wind companies, including Siemens Gamesa, Enel, GE and Vestas, and has now serviced over 3000 wind turbines in 17 countries across North and South America as well as Europe.

Aerones is one the European startups that were part of Y Combinator in the summer of 2018 and also was one of the interesting Euro startups part of YC21 summer program as featured by Nordic 9.
