Anyfi raises $1.5M from Industrifonden to build virtual hotspot networks
Anyfi Networks, a Malmö, Sweden-based company announced raising SEK 10M ($1.5M) in investment funding.
The money comes from Industrifonden, which led the round with a 9 million Swedish kroner (US $1.37M) investment, while Anyfi’s angel investors contribute with the remaining SEK 1M.
Anyfi, founded in 2011 and led by CEO Björn Smedman, has developed a tunneling technology that can turn any private access point into a mobile data “small cell,” which would allow operators to easily build hybrid cellular-Wi-Fi networks like the ones deployed by France’s Free Mobile and by Japan’s Softbank.
Prior to this deal, Anyfi had raised less than $1 million in seed funding.
