ATG completes the acquisition of Ecosys A/S from Denmark.
AB Trav och Galopp (ATG), a Stockholm, Sweden-based company that once had a monopoly of betting on horse racing in Sweden, announced the completion of its acquisition of Ecosys AS.
The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. The deal was closed as a result of a conditional acquisition agreement closed November 2017, whereas ATG committed to acquiring Ecosys, subject to the successful re-regulation of the Swedish gaming market, which at that time was still at the planning stage.
The re-regulation process went through at the end of 2018, with a series of new licences being handed out by the Swedish authorities, and new gaming regulations came into effect on January 1 this year.
Ecosys AS, founded in 2007 by CEO Holger Kristiansen, is based in Silkeborg, Denmark and operates Bet25.dk (sports betting), Rød25.dk (casino), casinogo.dk (mobile casino) and Café Bet25 (gaming café).
AB Trav and Galopp, led by CEO Hasse Skarplöth, is wholly owned by the trot and gallop sport, delivering a combination of world-class trotting and racing, as well as exciting and entertaining games. ATG ensures, through the game on horses, the long-term conditions of the Swedish trotting and racing sport. The entire ATG's surplus, about SEK 1.7 billion annually, goes back to equestrian sports.
