BeReal closed a $30 million capital funding round backed by a16z, DST, Accel and Kima Ventures.
BeReal, a French founded and Andorra-based startup building a consumer photo sharing application, completed a $30 million capital funding round.
The money was raised from American investors including a16z, DST and Accel. The company was initially seeded by the French VCs Kima Ventures and New Wave, as the company was discovered by Xavier Niel, which controls both funds.
Accel partner Sonali De Rycker and a16z Andrew Chen will join the company's board and work closely with the two founders, the company's only two employees.
BeReal, founded in 2020 by CEO Alexis Barreyat and Kévin Perreau, developed a mobile app that allows users to post a photo a day as it sends a daily alert to users to post a picture within two minutes. The company is said to have about 300k MAU, mostly from France's Paris and Lyon.
