Acconers 3D sensor technologies based on high-frequency radio signals that allow accurate measurement of distance. There are many advantages over competing solutions such as infrared and ultrasonic sensor technologies. The sensor is safe, energy efficient and easy to integrate into new products, creating cost.

The sensor developed by technology entrepreneurs Mikael Egard and Mats Ärlelid together with Professor Lars-Erik Wernersson, who was their supervisor in doctoral studies at Lund University. Along with LU Innovation Systems founded the Acconeer 2011.

The global market for 3D sensors is expected to grow by 23 percent per year and sales of $ 3.4 billion in 2020. Acconeers sensor is expected to be an important component of smartphones in the future. Today it is sold annually about one billion smartphones.
