bonapp.eco, a Bucharest, Romania-based startup building a marketplace for food waste, announced completing a seed funding round closed at €800,000 ($900k).
The money was raised from investors led by the French lunch voucher company Groupe Up (ex-Chèque Déjeuner), joined by local investors from Romania Roca X and Early Game Ventures, and from Hungary Impact Ventures.
bonapp.eco, founded in 2021 by CEO Grégoire Vigroux, Diego Roy de Lachaise and Zsolt Kadar, developed a mobile app acting as a marketplace connecting consumers with retailers to sell food that is close to expiration date. The food is sold to consumers at a discount of 40% to 80%. The application is available on iOS and Android. Food is bought by card, via the app, through a network of 35 affiliated partners in Bucharest to date, including supermarkets, hypermarkets, restaurants, shops, bakeries, coffee shops and hotels.
