Coinify was acquired for $84 million by Canda-based Voyager Digital
Coinify, a Copenhagen, Denmark-based company developing a platform that offers blockchain currency trading and payment processing services, announced that it was acquired by Voyager Digital, a Canada-headquartered operator of a publicly-traded cryptocurrency platform in the United States.
The deal was made mostly in stock issued to Coinify's shareholders, in a transaction totalling $84 million. Coinify was backed by investors including SEB Ventures, SEED Capital and Nordic Eye.
The acquisition accelerates Voyager's international expansion and Voyager's capabilities into the payment space so that customers will soon be able to make payments directly from their digital asset accounts. The Coinify acquisition also fast-tracks Voyager into the business-to-business payment space.
Coinify was founded in 2014 by Kris Henriksen, Lasse Olesen and Mark Højgaard, providing global enterprise services including individual payment processing in 15 major cryptocurrencies and transaction settlement in 20 fiat currencies via their easy-to-integrate Coinify API.
