Disciple Media in a $5.6 million round backed by multiple angel investors.

Disciple Media, a London, UK-based developer of a SaaS platform that enables online creators and entrepreneurs to build community-led businesses, announced raising $6 million in funding.

The money was raised from angel investors including Nick Mason, drummer in Pink Floyd, Sir Peter Michael, CEO of cray computers, founder of Classic FM, Quantel, and Cosworth Engineering, Rob Pierre, founder and CEO of Jellyfish and Keith Morris, ex. chairman Sabre Insurance.

Disciple also announces the latest addition to its board with new Chairman Eirik Svendsen, the expert in online marketplaces, SaaS, and the publishing and media industry.

Disciple Media, founded in 2013 by CEO Benji Vaughan, developes a software tool that enables online creators and SMEs to build independent, community-led businesses. They allow the community hosts they work with to easily create a bespoke social network/ community product for their fans, customers, and audiences as well as giving them powerful community management tools, CRM, and monetization options. The company says it has over 500 thriving passion communities all around the world, and well-known hosts include American idol judge Luke Bryan, Gor Tex, and Body by Ciara.
