Dispelix Ltd, the next generation Augmented Reality see-through display technology spins out and gets EUR 1.7 million
Dispelix Ltd, the maker of see-through lenses for Augmented Reality, announces today EUR 1.7 million ($1.93M) funding round from Lifeline Ventures and VTT Ventures.
Dispelix was recently spinned out from VTT Technical Research Center of Finland based on science and research in optics and display manufacturing technology for the Dispelix products since 2011.
"Dispelix makes thin AR displays with broad field of view, matching to and exceeding what is available today. Our lenses are manufactured in large quantities and have price points that allow mass-market consumer products, unlike existing technologies", comments Antti Sunnari, CEO and co-founder.
"The Dispelix technology enables true creation of immersive Augmented Reality experiences. It has both performance and cost structure for products from high-end professional use to sports and leisure. It can be embedded into applications from smart helmets to regular eyeglasses, and has simple optical interfaces for our partners to use", comments Juuso Olkkonen, CTO and co-founder.
"Previously, Augmented Reality optics have been too bulky to wear, too costly to embed in products and too difficult to manufacture in large volumes. Dispelix is the next generation that enables real growth in the industry", comments Jyrki Saarinen, chairman of the board, professor and optics entrepreneur.
The Dispelix technology is currently being embedded into its first partners' products. The respective announcements are expected in 2016.
