Eyoto raises £2.5 million in new funding from Midven and Mercia.

Eyoto, a Birmingham, UK-based developed of optometry software, announced that it secured a £2.5 million ($3.4M) funding round.

The money was raised from the Midlands Engine Investment Fund (MEIF), WM Equity Finance Fund, managed by venture capital firm Midven. Other investors including Mercia Asset Management, the Future Fund, and a group of angel investors also participated.

The new capital will be used to develop existing product ranges as well as research into new technologies to further broaden its offering, which will improve accessibility to eye care across the world and allow for better availability of practitioners.

Eyoto, founded in 2013 by James Wolffsohn and Mark Dunne as a spinout from Aston University’s school of optometry, produces a range of software services such as image processing, computer vision, eye-tracking, machine learning and artificial intelligence.
