Fieldsense in a €2.9 million equity deal backed by Danish Agro
Field Sense, an Aarhus, Denmark-based company developing satellite based software applications for farmers, announced completing an equity funding round closed at €2.9 million ($3.3M).
The money was raised from backers led by the local strategic investor Danish Agro, a cooperative farm supply company owned by 12,000 farmers from Denmark. The round included contributions from Rockstart and existing backer Pajbjergfonden.
Field Sense, led by CEO John Smedegaard and founded in 2014 as Ceptu by Martin Kjeld Pedersen and five partners, developed a platform for precision farming, by providing hyper-local weather data to farmers and other agro-industry clients. The platform uses tools combining artificial intelligence with satellite and climate data analysis in order to alert farmers for effectively combat pests or deficiencies and increase productivity with minimal need for additional feed.
The company says it handles busines for over 1400 customers, 2000 active weather stations out of Scandinavia, the Baltics and Northern Germany.
Field Sense previously raised half a million from Pajbjergfonden and local angel investors in 2018.
