Heart Aerospace announced raising $35M SeriesA round led by Breakthrough Energy Ventures, United Airlines and Mesa Air Group.
Heart Aerospace, a Gothenburg, Sweden-based manufacturer of electric aeroplanes, announced completing a series A funding round of $35 million.
The money was raised from American investors led by Breakthrough Energy Ventures, United Airlines and Mesa Air Group.
Heart’s seed investors EQT Ventures and Lowercarbon Capital also contributed to the round.
As part of the agreement, United and Mesa have togetherplaced purchase orders for 200 aircraft, the ES-19, with options for an additional 100 planes.
Heart Aerospace, founded in 2018 by CEO Anders Forslund as a spin-offfrom the Elise research program backed by Vinnova, is building an electric regional airliner certified for passenger flights. The aircraft is a nineteen-passenger airliner driven entirely by batteries and electric motors, with an operating range of 400 km and is expected to be certified for commercial operation by 2025, and enter service as soon as 2026.
The company says it is already in advanced discussions with several other airlines customers.
In 2019, Heart Aeropsace was accepted into Y Combinator and shortly after raised $2.1M from EQT Ventures and Norrsken Foundation.
