Helsinki Regional Transport (HRT) board approved terms for offering public transport as part of MaaS (Mobility as a Service) services.

The terms of the contract, signed on November 15, 2016, make Helsinki Regional Transport (HRT) the world’s first capital region transport provider to offer MaaS (Mobility as a Service) services to its customers. The MaaS is provided via a mobile app, Whim.

In simple words, the deal involves that Whim now includes public transport as well as taxis and rental cars for a fixed monthly price of 249 euro. A pay as you go alternative is also in the works and will be made available by the end of 2016.

Whim was released as a limited pilot project for the Helsinki area in October 2016.
