Heura to close series A round at €16 million.
Foods for Tomorrow (Heura), a Barcelona, Spain-based company producing plant-based food products, announced closing a fundraising round at €16 million, in what the call a series A.
The money, which includes a €3.9 million crowd equity campaign over at Crowdcube, was raised from investors including Impact Fooding, Capital V, Unovis, Lever VC and Green Monday, as well as football players Chris Smalling, Sergi Roberto and Cesc Fábregas.
The proceeds will be used for business expansion into new markets, as well as its research and development efforts. Heura is currently hiring as it looks to grow its new product development team.
Foods for Tomorrow, founded in 2017 by CEO Marc Coloma and Bernat Añaños, developed Heura, a vegetable proteins-based ingredient used as replacement for meat. The company says it produced sales of €8 million in 2020, with customers coming from 16 countries.
Heura previously announced getting funded by New Crop Capital and angel investor Michiel van Deursen (Capital V).
