Ignitia secured $4.2M financing round led by Novastar Ventures, and joined by IKEA Social Entrepreneurship.
Ignitia, a Stockholm, Sweden-based startup providing a hyperlocal weather service to local farmers from Africa, announced raising $4.2 million in funding.
The money was raised from investors led by Novastar Ventures, and joined by IKEA Social Entrepreneurship, Future Foodways, Mercy Corps, Norrsken and Finca International.
Proceeds will be used to expand Ignitia's agricultural decision-making support into the Brazilian market, as well as extend its Sub-Saharan Africa footprint to new markets.
Ignitia, founded in 2010 by founded by Liisa Smits and Andreas Vallgren, delivers weather alerts via SMS fo smal farmers from Africa, in countries such as Mali, Nigeria or Ghana. It has 1.9 million farmers across West Africa, mainly in Ghana, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, and Mali.
