Minima Processor gets $1.7M in EU funding
Minima Processor, an Oulu and Espoo-based startup, has received funding significant funding for its technology for commercialization and piloting from the European Union Horizon 2020 Research Framework Program. The program finances SME export innovation. Minima was involved in the last round of funding for the program, which allocated EUR 71 million to 71 European companies.
Minima's $1.69 million is thus a bit bigger than the average number of business aids in the round.
Managing Director Toni Soini:
"We make processors less power-consuming and more fault-tolerant. In practice, this means that our technology enables intelligent Microcontroller devices to be placed in places where current technology does not matter because they either consume too much power or do not withstand, for example, high cold or pressure fluctuations.
With intelligent microcoding I mean, of course, IoT devices. Small sensors, transmitters and any kind of electronics that will surround us. In 2020, the world is estimated to have 50 billion internet-connected devices and 200 billion sensors. Our goal is that Minima's technology can be found in a lot of time inside that stage. "
