Momox was acquired by Verdane Capital
Momox, a Berlin, Germany-based markeplace operator of re-commerce products, announced that it was acquired by the private equity company Verdane Capital.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. Verdane, already an existing shareholder, will become the new majority owner as founder Christian Wegner has decided to leave momox’ board and sell his shares.
Momox, founded in 2004 and led by CEO Heiner Kroke, is a top-selling digital re-commerce company from Germany with almost 20 million customers and more than 200 million articles purchased and sold over the course of its history.
momox purchases used books, media and clothing via momox.de and its app, and distributes the purchased articles in Germany through its own online shops medimops.de (books & media), ubup.com (clothing) and various online marketplaces.
momox reported a turnover of EUR 200m for 2018 and employs over 1,700 people at six locations in Germany and Poland. It operates local websites in Austria, France and the United Kingdom in addition to its German operations.
