Monivent, a healthtech from Gothenburg, takes in the capital to get started sales of their first product
Monivent, a Gothenbrg, Sweden, healthtech company providing products for newborn children not breathing at birth, raised a new round of capital.
The money comes from existing investors, such as Chalmers and Almi Invest, and will be used to initiate the sales process of their product.
Monivent, founded in 2014 by CEO Maria Lindqvist, is a medical technology company whose product provides a safer treatment for acute ventilation in newborns who require respiratory support. Approximately 3-6% of all newborns in need of this, and the nursing staff currently lack the tools to determine the effectiveness of today's manual venting is. This can result in two major risks; for small volumes that provide insufficient oxygen resulting in failed revivals, or excessive volumes that result in the expansion of the lungs, causing lung damage, especially in children who are born very prematurely.
- We have tested the product in Sweden, Norway and Finland, and received very positive feedback and has identified that there is a great need for a tool like ours, both for training and clinically, says Maria Lindqvist, CEO and co-founder Monivent.
By training with the product in a simulated resuscitation situation, given the caregiver continuous feedback on important parameters such as abandoned volumes, to see the effect and create a better understanding of the treatment. It strengthens the caregiver's skills and at the same time need to receive the same support in the real clinical situation.
- There is a strong team with an exciting product that can contribute to a safer obstetric care. We have been involved since the company started, and it's been fun to follow their dedication and traveling forward, says Andreas Hoye, Investment Manager at Chalmers Ventures.
- It is gratifying to see such strong support from existing owners Chalmers Ventures, Almi Invest and based team faced a very exciting year for the company, concludes Maria Lindqvist.
