Nutrient AB, a Stockholm, Swedenbased startup working on developing alternative food solutions based on plants and insects, secured funding from KTH Holding.

The funding comes after Nutrient was part of KTH Innovation preincubator program which started in November 2017.

Nutrient, founded in 2017 by CEO Adam Engström, develops concepts and processes for producing and selling climate-friendly food, both plant based and insect based products.

The company is focusing on two directions: on one hand, on the development of a unique system for growing insects on a large scale as a food ingredient alternative and, on the other, on the development of a proteinaceous herbal product line Tempeh, already launched on the market in October 2017. Tempeh is based on Swedish peas and is sold in retail stores such as Urban Deli from Stockholm.

Nutrient is also part of Sting Incubate, a local accelerator funded by the Swedish government.
