Oculus acquires 13th Lab for $25M

Oculus, owned by Facebook, announced the acquisition of 13th Lab, together with US-based Nimble VR. The value of the transaction is SEK 195M ($25M)

13the Lab was founded in 2012 and was backed by Creandum, GP Bullhound and angel investor Gustav Söderström.

The company has been focused on developing an efficient and accurate real-time 3D reconstruction framework. The ability to acquire accurate 3D models of the real-world can enable all sorts of new applications and experiences, like visiting a one-to-one 3D model of the pyramids in Egypt or the Roman Colosseum in VR.
