Open Mineral raised a $33 million Series C funding round led by Mubadala Investment Company

Open Mineral, a Zug, Switzerland-based startup operating an online exchange for physical commodities, announced securing series C in a funding round closed at $33 million.

The money was raised from investors led by Mubadala Investment Company, joined by Xploration Capital, Emerald Technology Ventures, Statkraft and Lingfeng Capital.

Open Mineral, founded in 2017 by Boris Eykher and Ilya Chernilovskiy (former employees at Glencore, the largest commodity trading house in the world), developed a platform that brings together sellers and buyers, mining and metals companies, allowing them to transact directly and securely, without intermediaries. They say they currently have more than 900 metals and mining companies across the world.
