Osgenic raised $1M from Icebreaker and Nordic XR Startups.

Osgenic, a Helsinki, Finland-based health company building a VR-based solution for surgeons, booked EUR 900k ($1M) in capital investment.

The money was provided by existing shareholder Icebreaker as well as by angels investors including more than 30 doctors and surgeons from Finland and Germany and successful entrepreneurs in the gaming industry. The investment will enable Osgenic to scale their solution to various surgical procedures and to pilot it with leading international hospitals.

At the same time, Osgenic announced  bringing its first orthopedic product to market and its first client - the Päijät-Häme Central Hospital from Finland. The company also runs a a pilot project with the German University Hospital.

Osgenic, founded in 2017 by CEO Arne Schlenzka, Jouni Lohikoski and Tatu Lyytinen, aims to create with the help of VR a new environment where surgeons can prepare for procedures safely.

In May 2018 the company was accepted and funded by the Nordic XR Startups Accelerator.
