Prisma raised $40 million in a round led by Altimeter and joined by Amplify Partners and Kleiner Perkins.

Prisma, a Munich, Germany-based SAAS database developer, announced raising a $40 million Series B financing round.

The money round was led by Altimeter Capital, and joined by existing shareholders Amplify Partners and Kleiner Perkins.

Prisma, founded as Graphcool in 2016 by Johannes Schickling (CEO) and Søren Bramer Schmidt (CTO), develops software tools for GraphQL application programming interface which provides operations with filtering, sorting, pagination and realtime capabilities, enabling users to build a GraphQL server with any database. The company says its tools are in use by more than 150,000 developers and thousands of companies of all sizes for new or existing Node.js and TypeScript projects.

Prior to this round, in 2020 Prisma secured series A closed at $12 million and in 2018, it raised a $4.5 million seed round led by Kleiner Perkins.
