ResQ Club aquires competitor and attracts funding from German investors.

ResQ Club, a Helsinki, Finland-based startup providing a waste food operation, announced merging with German competitor MealSaver and attracting additional external financing totalling EUR 495k ($550k).

The backers of the new entity include Ananda Social Venture Fund (Munich), Berlin Atlantic Food Labs (Berlin) as well as existing investor Cleantech Invest, which increased its ownership from 8.7% to 9.5%.

ResQ Club, founded in 2015 and led by CEO Oula Antere, has developed a service that makes it possible to save high quality food from going to waste. The service has over 120,000 registered users and works with about 1000 affiliated restaurants, cafés, hotels, and other food service providers.

Prior to this investment, in spring 2016, ResQ Club raised $450,000 at a $2.7M valuation from investors such as Finnvera, HYY Yhtymä, Martin Anderlind, Peter Carlsson, Prodeko Ventures or Tekes.
