Sona in a $6.8 million seed funding round led by Google’s Gradient Ventures.

Sona, a London, UK-based startup developing SAAS used to manage frontline workforces, announced completing a seed funding round at $6.8 million.

The money was raised from investors led by Gradient Ventures and joined by Speedinvest, as well as by angel investors including Tom Blomfield, Andy Leaver (operating partner at Notion Capital), Lorenzo Franzi (partner at Flash Ventures), Anthony Danon, (partner at Cocoa), Maximilian Bittner (CEO at Vestiaire Collective), Graham Paterson (product partner at Connect Ventures), Andrej-Nicolai Henkler (CEO at Leblon Capital), Invested (Anna Brandt and Noor van Boven), and Sri Pangulur.

In conjunction with the money, Asif Moosani (investor at Gradient Ventures) and Markus Lang (partner at Speedinvest) also joined Sona’s board.

Sona, founded in 2021 by Ben Dixon, Oli Johnson and Steffen Wulff Petersen, developed a mobile application that is used for frontline staff to manage their work and engage with their employer. Features include live schedule view, absence management, instant messaging, and Open Shifts, a shift booking platform matching shift vacancies with employees willing to take on more hours. The company says it is in use by paying customers helping 10,000 deskless workers within the U.K. and Ireland.

Sona was previously pre-seeded with $2.2 million in 2021.
