Spiir to get €4.6 million from Danske Bank and DNB to further grow its product Nordic API Gateway.

Spiir, an Aarhus, Denmark-based financial services company, announced the completion of a €4.6 million ($5M) capital investment round.

The money was provided by existing investors, DNB and Danske Bank, and will be used to execute the company's growth plan for making available its product Nordic API Gateway in Europe, as well as further development of its open banking services.

Spiir, founded in 2011 by CEO Rune Mai and Gudmundur Hreidarsson, developed Nordic API Gateway, an open banking platform that enables frictionless financial access via an AP to aggregated financial data with the extensive coverage of both personal and business bank accounts in the Nordics. The platform is in use by players including Danske Bank, DNB, Jyske Bank, OP Financial Group, and Pleo.

Spiir has 60 employees based in three office locations: Coepnahgen, Aarhus and Gdansk.

Prior to this investment round, Spiir secured almost $10M from Nordic investors.
