Spotify buys Sonalytic, a London-based audio detection startup.

Spotify, the Swedish music unicorn, announced the acquisition of French audio recognition startup Sonalytics.

The terms of the transaction remain undisclosed.

Sonalytics, founded in 2016 by Martin Gould, provides SAAS technology that identifies individual songs, mixed content and short audio clips with robustness and speed.

According to Spotify, their advancements in audio feature detection will be used in several ways to advance Spotify’s mission: from improving Spotify’s personalized playlists to matching songs with compositions to improve our publishing data system.
