Starship Technologies to raise $42 million from NordicNinja and Taavet+Sten.
Starship Technologies, the Estonian founded and San Francisco, USA-based manufacturer of autonomous delivery services, secured an equity round closed at $42 million.
The money was raised from Investors led by NordicNinja and Taavet+Sten, and including TDK Ventures and Goodyear Ventures.
Starship Technologies, founded in 2014 by CEO Ahti Heinla, Janus Friis and Ahti Heinla, is a company developing small self-driving robotic delivery vehicles, mainly used for last mile delivery operations. The electric-powered robots ride on sidewalks at a pedestrian speed, with a max speed of 6 kilometres per hour (3.7 mph), can be remote-controlled if autonomous operation fails, and will only be used for relatively short-range local delivery. The company says it operates a fleet of 1,700 robots daily that are doing 10,000 deliveries per day.
Starship previously raised $17 million in equity in 2021 and $57 million from the European Investment Bank in January 2022.
