The Fabricant, an Amsterdam, Netherlands-based software startup developing digital couture and fashion experiences, announced closing series A at $14 million.

The money was raised from European and American investors led by the German VC Greenfield One, and joined by Ashton Kutcher and Guy Oseary’s Sound Ventures, Red DAO, 4impact, Slingshot Ventures, and Borski Fund.

Other contributors include crypto people such as Sfermion, Koji Capital, Stefano Rosso (OTB Group), Marc Weinstein (Partner at Mechanism Capital), Trevor McFedries (Brud), Shari Glazer (Glazer Foundation), Angel Xu (Venture Partner Quantstamp), Benny Giang (ex-Dapper Labs), Richard Ma (Quantstamp and owner of Iridescence Dress), Sebastian Borget (Sandbox), Sillytuna (Crypto Investor), Chad Knight (Head of 3D Wilder World), Victoire Maureau and Anoop Kansupada (Nifty Gateway).

The Fabricant, founded in 2018 by Adriana Hoppenbrouwer, Amber Jae Slooten and Kerry Murphy, is a software company working on what it calls the wardrobe of the metaverse - a non-fungible token (NFT) platform called The Fabricant Studio which allows anyone to create, trade, and wear digital-only garments. It's an invitation only platform launched in 2021 and which aims to build a user-friendly end-to-end experience that obfuscates the complexities of blockchains, while still giving users all of the sovereignty + interoperability + distribution value that NFTs can offer.

The Fabricant is backed by 40 employees and says it worked with Under Armour, Off-White, Napapijri, Puma, Peak Performance, World of Women and gaming platforms like Epic Games and The Sandbox, to demonstrate the possibilities within the digital fashion realm. It also says is has a partnership with Epic Games, and says it will work with World of Women, the biggest female-led NFT community to date, as well as with The Sandbox.

The company previously raised seed funding from 4impact, Slingshot Ventures, and Borski Fund.
