Travelade announces a seed round of $1.6M, led by Crowberry Capital, for a holiday recommendation service.

Travelade, a Palo Alto, USA and Reykjavik, Iceland-based startup working on a Pinterest-style travel recommendation website, announced via a press release that it closed a seed investment round of $1.6M.

The money comes from investors including Crowberry Capital and Investa, and will be used to further grow the project beyond its pilot phase.

Travelade, founded in 2016 by Andri Kristinsson and Hlöðver Thor Árnason, developed a digital platform aiming to help millennials discover more authentic and local things to do and see. The company’s initial focus is on small trendy tourist destination such as the Nordic, Baltic and Slavic countries, as it launched its initial pilot in Iceland and in Bosnia.

Prior to this investment round, Travelade received an ISK 1.5M ($14.2k) grant from Iceland's Technology Development Fund in 2016.
