Unikie announced completing a €12 million funding round from CapMan Growth and Tesi
Unikie, a Tampere, Finland-based developer of software technology platforms for autonomous vehicles, announced that it secured a €12 million ($14.2M) capital funding round.
The money was raised from local investors from Finland, including CapMan Growth and Tesi and will be used for international growth of the business. Another focus area is to develop product management and the company’s product range to support the current technology platforms.
At the same time, Unikie announced hiring Seppo Kuula as new CEO of the company.
Unikie, founded in 2015 by Esko Mertsalmi, is specialised in device-edge-cloud-based software. Its main segments are car industry, smart machinery, industry 4.0 and telecommunications. The company’s spearhead is Unikie AI Vision, a comprehensive automatic driving (AD) solution that can be scaled to the global market.
Unikie operations in Finland, Sweden, Germany, Poland and the United States, and workd with clients including Sandvik, Nokia and Valmet, which brough in €26.9 million in sales in 2019. The estimated turnover for 2020 is €35 million.
