Virta, a Helsinki, Finland-based operator of an electric vehicle charging platform technology, announced that it has attracted €30 million ($36M) in capital investment.

The money was raised from investors led by the French B2B growth equity investor Jolt Capital, joined by two co-investors, Tesi (Finnish Industry Investment) and Vertex Growth. All Virta shareholders participated in the round. The first closing of the round was closed in April 2020 with Eneos, the leading integrated energy company from Japan.

Virta, founded in 2013 and led by CEO Jussi Palola, developed a business helping other companies launch, scale and operate commercial EV charging services within different industries such as energy, oil and real estate – as a primary business or as a value-added service.

The charging networks on Virta platform already constitute one of the largest charging ecosystems in Europe, and the company is also working with Vertex Growth to build a network of partners to operate EV charging in Asia. The platform is used in more than 30 countries by nearly a thousand B2B-customers.

Virta previously raised a seed round at the end of 2018, backed by German energy company E.ON and by the Finnish energy company Helen (through Helen VC)

Total investments received (USD): 129.32M
